Join NYC Trout Unlimited and the Metropolitan Fly Fishing Club for an evening dedicated to fly fishing in urban waters. We’re thrilled to co-host a presentation by Marc Fryt, who will share his blueprint for finding exciting fishing opportunities and growing stronger connections to local waters.
Marc Fryt is a US Army veteran and helicopter pilot who found solace in fly fishing during his service. Now a guide in Spokane, Washington, Marc is a writer and photographer whose work has appeared in The Drake, Flyfish Journal, and American Fly Fishing. His new book, The Guide to Urban Fly Fishing: How to Explore and Enjoy Your Local Waters, explores the diverse voices of urban anglers across the country.
Whether you are a seasoned angler or a complete beginner, Marc’s presentation is designed to take the intimidation out of urban fly fishing. He will dive into the technical and legal how-to of fishing in a city, including:
Navigating state and city water access codes
Identifying private versus public land
Finding your next "honey hole" using digital tools before you leave your apartment
Recommendations on gear and transportation
Marc’s approach is rooted in mentorship and collaboration. We hope you’ll join Marc’s lecture to spend some time with a community of anglers who believe the joy of fly fishing doesn’t always require a five-hour drive to the mountains.
